COVID19 ALL INDIA Scenario April 2020

RVP BASED GRANULAR SIMULATION MODEL

Background to the model and projections

The projections of Infections and Hospitalization for each and every one of India's 37 states and union territories upto September 2020,  is built on the reference of the base estimations by CDDEP.Org. The CDDEP estimates have been used as a reference and then  simulated at a granular level  by Gender and Age group using the power of the RVP database.

TheDATAFirm has built a database (RealVirtualPeople – RVP) of the entire Indian population using the 2011 census, NSSO, MOHFW, Govt Data Stack & other sources to map the Indian Population on an individual basis without any personal identification data. Since the database maps the entire current Indian Population taking into account birth rates, death rates, decadal growth rates, the estimated size of the Indian Population as per RVP is around 1.4+ billion. The RVP database is granular to the extent of Urban wards & Rural villages, thereby allowing for granular analysis at micro-geography levels. To demonstrate the power of granularity & the resultant outcomes, TheDATAFirm used the CDDEP India Covid19 Scenario estimates as a reference, this was followed by a modelling exercise that took into consideration, working population, age, current numbers of respiratory diseases, other diseases at the state level, as reported in the National Health Profile 2019, as well as characteristics of various age segments by gender to estimate the potential numbers of the scenarios projected by CDDEP.

Given the constantly-evolving understanding of the Covid19’s transmission, health impact, fatalities, etc., TheDATAFirm has reported numbers as a range – this was done to help decision makers understand the potential impact of the unfolding scenario, help them estimate the resource requirements and build response playbooks basis these scenarios at a local level.

We at TheDATAFirm, have approached this problem to enable and empower decision-makers to get a sense of the best case / worst case scenarios at the ground level across the country.

We request everyone referring to these numbers to treat them as indicative estimates and not absolute numbers.

We sincerely hope this effort of ours, would help us plan and prepare better as a Nation.
